The last time i looked at one with what the total costs would be, it was about 3x what the kit. Menards carries a lot of cheap stuff (some diamonds in the rough mixed in) but also a lot of name brand stuff that's just as good or better than some of the home depot stuff. Menards is privately owned and works under a completely different business model.
