I maintain a personal list of what i consider to be some of the most interesting wikipedia articles and, having recently reached 500 entries, i figured i'd share it. Since wikipedia is open source, there are many ways to download the entire database listed here with instructions, including an sql database, html dumps, and anywhere else you can.
