It is so blue because the dense ice of the glacier absorbs every other color of the spectrum except blue — so blue is what we see! Nasa has data on sea ice, glaciers, snow cover, and other frozen features that comprise earth’s cryosphere and effect human activity and our planet. Glacial ice is a different color from regular ice.

Nasa's iceberg data includes current and historical measurements useful for mapping icebergs, glaciers that calve them, and their characteristics. Forty years later, it is finally disappearing, and rapidly. When a piece of a glacier breaks off, it's called calving, and results in an iceberg.
